Ludhiana: A city resident was duped of Rs 90,000 on the pretext of selling Royal Enfield motorcycle at a low rate through online mobile application OLX.
The case has been registered at Jabalpur police station on the statement of Sahil Kumar of Ram Nagar of Bhamiyan Kalan. Complainant Sahil Kumar said he wanted to buy a Royal Enfield motorcycle. He found one on OLX at a cheap price in July 2018. He contacted the seller who introduced himself as Ram Kumar of Deoghar of Jharkhand. According to the complainant, the accused to be an Army person who wanted to sell his Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle. The deal was settled at Rs 90,000 and he transferred the payment to the accused through Paytm.
He alleged that after getting the money, the accused started delaying the delivery of the motorcycle. The accused kept telling him that he will send the bike, but after some days he stopped answering his calls.
The investigating officer form Jabalpur police station, ASI Rajinder Kumar, said a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 465 (Punishment for Forgery) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
Why these frauds are happening?
There are many genuine and real online retailers or sellers in the market. There are many brands which are coming up with exciting offers. There are legit brands on one side and on another side there are a few who solely target to cheat people and earn money. - You should ask their website if they have one and know about their refund policies.
